In the midst of Luzzo’s 10th anniversary and the preparation of a flurry of innovations for our customers, we have once again clinched awards in the 16th “Lisboa à Prova” gastronomic competition.
Two of this 100% Portuguese franchise group’s brand locations walked away with honours in the 2023-2024 edition: Luzzo Pizzeria Expo (1 Garfo Superior) and Luzzo Pizzeria Alvalade (1 Garfo).
The awards were presented on 28 May, in Lisbon City Council’s Great Hall, with the help of the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas.
These accolades come hot on the heels of one our biggest changes: our new pizza bases, made with premium Italian flours, rich in fibre, and slow-fermenting sourdough starters. These new bases have made our pizzas even healthier and more iconic.
The “Lisboa à Prova” competition is jointly organised by Lisbon City Council, Lisbon Tourism, and Portugal’s Hospitality and Restaurant Trade Association. It aims to reward and distinguish venues that meet demanding criteria on cuisine, service, ambience, and their quality/price ratio, following visits by a select jury.
According to the competition organisers, this year’s edition allowed us to “address some of the main challenges in the sector, such as the lack of qualified human resources, the increase in food and energy costs, and the difficulties in managing reservations due to customer no-shows, among others.”
